Good Morning everyone,
I received a phone call from a teacher yesterday evening to advise me of the
situation.
The Executive Committee of Board have been empowered by the Board to vote on
October 24 on how the new campus, apparently to be located in Grand Saconnex
(near the UN) Geneva, will be composed. It seems that 'the overwhelming
majority' of BoG members favour the option of locating all classes 10-13 of
the foundation in the new campus, meaning that La Chat and LGB campuses
would as from Fall 2003 be catering only to classes 1 to 9.
There has been no consultation with the teaching staff on this and neither,
obviously, with the parent body at large.
The petition that the teachers would like us to sign is to call an
Extraordinary Consultative BOG meeting prior to the vote on October 24th so
that information can be shared more publicly and opinions to be voiced in a
public forum.
The timing obviously is extremely unfortunate. The school break intervenes
and the 23rd is also partly being taken up by a pedagogical day for the (La
Chat) teaching staff.
A special CDG meeting has also been called for the 23rd to discuss the item
in order to provide input to the BoG for the vote on the 24th.
250 signatures of eligible voters are required to call the meeting. Copies
of the documents, as Chantal mentioned, are located at the Primary and
Secondary receptions at La Chat.
Please advise as many parents as you can.
best regards, Philip Djaferis
