Summary of CDG October 2000 Meeting

On the Thursday before fall break, October 12, La Chat's CDG was asked to respond to the Board's "Decision in principle" for a 10-13 Campus - giving them 3 working days before the board would meet again to begin the architects' competition.  The CDG met on Monday 23 October 2000 to review the proposal made by the board and took a show of hands 5 to 2 against the 10-13 terminal campus. See full minutes of CDG 23 October here.

Summary of CDG February & March 2000 Meetings

As we continually review how we can improve communications between the school and parents, we thought it might be helpful to publish periodic summaries of issues discussed at Campus Development Group (CDG) meetings. The following summarizes the February and March CDG meetings. More detailed information can be found in the CDG's minutes kept at Secondary Reception at La Chat and at the Mies Reception as well. Our next meeting will be held in May.

February 2000

The Director General reported that the board had approved a decision to have a new campus for 1,000 students in the canton of Geneva somewhere near Pregny, beginning in the fall of 2003. It has not been decided whether it will be Primary or Primary-Secondary. When this new campus opens, the La Chat campus will have 800-900 students.

Summary of the La Chat CDG May and June 2000 Meeting

This is a summary of the last two meetings of the Campus Development Group (CDG) this year.

June 2000

Report on items recently discussed by the Governing Board

*an agreement is now in place to establish a new, temporary campus in Grand Saconnex which will hold about 200 ELP students in classes 1-5. It seems likely, but not certain, that this same land will be used to build the permanent, new 1,000 student campus for the International School.

*A "good touch/bad touch" policy is being developed. The Board will have a working group that will develop broader policies on student/teacher interactions.

The Board affirmed its commitment to La Chat's bilingual program.
